What is Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)

Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO), also known as Talent Acquisition Outsourcing (TAO), is best defined as the complete management and fulfillment of a company’s hiring needs for all of its jobs or for a specific designated portion of its jobs. This means the RPO manages the entire process from job profiling to the starting of a new hire. With an effective RPO that is able to perform as a true partner to an organization, a company will improve the quality of their hires while decreasing the time to hire and reducing the costs.


This differs from traditional staffing solutions because a RPO manages the entire Talent Acquisition process, not just a subset like a recruiting firm or contract recruiter. Do I need and applicant tracking system or ATS?

What are the biggest difference between you and a Recruiting Firm only?
Cost, quality and efficiency are the three main elements that separate the Harpwood from other solutions. Additionally, our RPO fees are not based on salary percentages. By managing the entire process we are able to utilize every possible resource to locate the candidate quickly and efficiently.


Do you sell Harpwood’s technology?
Harpwood believes that technology is a tool and a great one at that, but ultimately all hiring is performed by people hiring people. Needless to say this means people are an integral part of the equation, particularly people who are good at what they do. At Harpwood a main point of contact is always designated for each client. This person will consult with the company, customize their hiring plans, and ultimately direct our team and resources to drive the best candidates through the process. Subsequently, we use the technology as a tool to help achieve this task and not as separately billed item.

Can Harpwood handle Employee Referrals?
One of the best ways to receive employee referrals for open positions within a company is simply to ask. As part of our strategy, Harpwood creates a special email that does just this. The Hiring Manager with the appropriate company email distribution list is then free to distribute to current employees thus enabling employees to contribute to the hiring process. Even better is that with our technology, we can track all candidates including employee referrals, so you know just which employee to thank.


Can Harpwood work with our company job postings?
Harpwood manages all aspects of the hiring process this is part of our job. With the power of the internet we can have our programmers create unique URL that has all of your jobs on that page and by simply pointing your “Careers” page to the link everyone is connected. The look and feel is the same as your company’s website for branding and continuity and thus completely transparent to job seekers. Additionally this enables us to track all of the referral sources.

Does Harpwood use Job Boards like Monster or HotJobs?
Because Harpwood is a full service solution managing the entire hiring process we utilize all the tools that are best for your specific positions to be filled including job boards when appropriate. That being said, job boards are only a small piece to the overall puzzle. We have numerous other resources that we dedicate to every position to make sure we are capturing the passive candidates along with the active candidates. Additionally, we actually manage the entire process from start to finish providing personal contact with the candidates and evaluating them all, no matter where they come from, accordingly.

Will you unbundle your RPO services?

We encourage you to contact us and discuss all your hiring situations because we know all hiring needs are different. Ultimately all of our solutions are customized to fit your company’s requirements and we may find that creating a new solution to fit your goals might be best for everyone. And indeed many of our clients do require specialized searches and unbundled recruiting applications. But if we can’t help, we probably know of other service providers that can assist you and we are happy to point you in the right direction. What type of Consulting Services do you provide?

It really depends on your project.
